EBR Motorcycles stops production….again.
In a press release dated January 2017, boutique sports motorcycle manufacturer EBR Motorcycles will cease production of its 1190 RX, SX and Black Lightning models at its East Troy, Wisconsin factory.
EBR Motorcycles was the latest iteration of the firm started by racer and engineer Erik Buell and once owned by Harley-Davidson. The firm specialized in innovative, high-performance bikes especially suited to road racing.
In 2015 the company was acquired from bankruptcy by Liquid Asset Partners, LLC of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a company with a track record of motorcycle industry asset liquidation.
Liquid Asset Partners celebrated a relaunch of the company in 2016, but faced challenges in establishing a dealer network in a competitive, niche market.
EBR Motorcycles has stated that they will continue to honor warranties and parts supply for existing customers as new investors or ownership is sought for the manufacturer.
